Fech The Ferret (alpha)
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Fech The Ferret is a fast and loud parkour game about a cute pink ferret exploring a colorful open world, sometimes to the beat of electronic music. The game is about Fech, a young anthropomorphic ferret on his first adventure busy exploring the unknown region of Marmocle. In his journey he'll meet plenty of friendly animals who will help him understand where he is.
Q&A
Is a Steam Key included?
Yes! After you buy a copy on Itch, you'll be able to redeem the game on Steam as well.
When will the game be completed?
No sooner than Summer 2024. It's hard to accurately predict as unexpected challenges may pop up at any time in such a big project.
Why is the game out in alpha?
To avoid having people wait for too long.
The game is structurally an open world, which makes iterations slow. Releasing Fech early works best to showcase what's getting added to the game with each update.
Will you add...
Maybe! There's many things I plan to add to this project still. Feel free to ask questions and give feedback in the Discord server!

Hey, I'm working on a beat mapper app for music-based games. It's called MBOY Editor (https://vfpe.itch.io/mboy-editor) Do you want to try it for your game? Vic
Looks nice, but it wouldn't work out for this game. On a sidenote, please avoid spamming developer pages, it might detract from the actual value of your tool.
Hi, Raoul! Thanks for the response! Good advice!
I played the demo on steam, and without hyperbole, these are the worst camera controls I have ever experienced in a video game.
I'm sorry, I know game development is hard, and I deeply respect the effort that must have gone into making this, but I simply cannot play this game in it's current state, and I can't help but wonder how the game got this far without this coming up as an issue.
However, I do understand this this is still not yet finished, and I will keep following the game in the hopes that this gets fixed in the future.
Were you by chance using a keyboard?
And mouse, of course.
Not to be presumptuous, but I can't help but feel a bit condescended to for using a keyboard. Considering this is a PC exclusive, I feel like this isn't unreasonable. On top of that, It seems like half of the controls (movement, jumping, sprinting) can't be rebound? If I could set keys for looking left and right and reconfigure they controls for mouseless play, I bet I would be able to make do.
At least you have keyboard controls at all, unlike Trailblazers.
Will there be a Linux build for the new release?
Yes actually! I'm working on that today alongside major bugfixes
super fun game! really nice :)
The demo is a ton of fun. I like the feeling of going fast and having to bounce between platforms. The music section is a bit tricky but carries the hype. I also like how the tower in the distance is what your running towards. I just wish it was something a bit more then a pointy thing.
Thanks for playing it! Unfortunately I can't promise anything about the obelisk for the time being. But! After almost a year of silence, a vastly improved demo is coming out this weekend, it revises everything you saw and adds more context as well as a second zone. You might like it!
I'll make sure to play it. My main gripe with the obelisk is it looks so cool when your running towards it, it just has no value. But aside from that I'm really excited to see where this project goes.
Helo helo! Coming back just to say the new demo is now available!
Yeah I played it. It's pretty good although I noticed that I couldn't jump from a stand still. That and the ferrest has been majorly cut down, it use to be much longer.
Oh weird, I have no issues with jumping while standing. And yeah, for this demo specifically we tried to show more of the newer parts. It's still possible to backtrack, but definitely not convenient ahaha
this game is awesome
i wish i could get on the walls sideways
that would be cool i think
I suppose you mean being able to run on walls instead of climbing up them?
yes
I only just started playing and it takes a bit of getting used too. If I may, why is looking attached to the scroll wheel on MnK? It feels very clunky and borderline unusable on a notched scroll wheel. I can understand some of the benefits when using a smooth scroll wheel, but having the option to use the mouse instead would allow for more precise movements when your stuck with a mouse that can't switch between the two. Aside from that your game does give me good vibes.
You're right, the mouse controls would need a bit of a overhaul by next demo.
